VCDGear is a powerful utility which allows you to extract MPEG streams from CD images, to convert VCD files to MPEG, to correct MPEG errors and to create (S)VCDs just to start with!
This application has been developed between 1997 and 2005 and is currently discontinued.
For a long time, it has been considered one of the best tools dedicated to VCD users.
VCDGear supports a variety of input and output formats: MPEG, CUE, NRG, BIN, DAT and many others.
Some of the features provided by VCDGear are: fixing MPEG errors, extracting MOEG streams from popular CD images, (S)VCD image creation, multilanguage support, sample generation, and cross platform.
Both the command-line and the graphical interface versions are available. In just a few words, this application assists you in playing your video materials on your computer or VideoCD player.
Easiness of use is another feature that has ensured this application’s success for many years.
The interface is simple and easy to work with; there are just a few buttons and panels that include all the conversion and extraction options, such as archive checking, bumper removal, and MPEG error correction. The conversion process is very intuitive: load the input file, press the “Start” button and wait until the file is converted. For each conversion, you can adjust duration, volume name, and track list. Sample clips can be created while previewing the input video.
Other features of VCDGear are a subtitle conversion tool, batch processing, and displaying application activity in a log section, where warnings and errors are announced as well.
VCDGear can still be helpful, despite its discontinued status, and it remains a reliable tool for extracting MPEG streams from CD images and correcting errors.
