Fraunhofer IIS MP3 Surround Player allows you to play your favorite Surround MP3 files and create playlists.
It provides advanced options, such as playing MP3 Surround files with and without MP3 Stereo eXtended (MP3 SX) technology and standard MP3 stereo files on multichannel soundcards.
MP3 Surround and stereo files can be opened for headphone reproduction using the mp3D technology.
The components of the Fraunhofer IIS MP3 Surround Player are the MP3 Surround Command line Encoder (it converts WAV files to MP3 surround files), the MP3 Surround Graphical Encoder (which unlike its command line version, supports multi-file enconding), the MP3 Surround Command line Decoder (it transforms MP3 Surround file into WAV files), the MP3 Surround Realtime Player, the MP3 Surround Decoder Dynamic Link Library, the MP3 Surround Development Kit and the MP3 Surround Winamp Plugin, a tool which is still experimental.
This excellent media player has not been updated anymore since 2009, but it’s unlikely for you to find it obsolete. Its last version was 3.0.2, which featured the following changes: added MP3 stereo modes, added MP3D technology, support for Windows Vista and improved Unicode filename support.
The defining feature of this media player is providing high quality stereo sound on conventional hardware which supports MP3 files. Multi-channel surround sound is easier to attain now, even if you don’t have an advanced audio system.
The Fraunhofer IIS MP3 Surround Player offers you all the tools you need in order to enjoy Surround MP3 files.
It supports various configurations, including 5.1 channel surround and is dedicated to average users and to anyone who could benefit from high-quality surround sound, such as music download websites or Internet radio stations.
- The Fraunhofer IIS mp3 Surround software is free of any watermarking technology, related digital rights management or spyware system.
