GSPlayer is a free audio player that can be used with PocketPC and smartphones.
This lightweight application supports the most common audio formats, such as MP3 (using the MAD 0.15.1b), Ogg Vorbis, WAVE, HTTP streaming (MP3 and Ogg Vorbis), and SHOUTcast streaming (MP3 and Ogg Vorbis). Other audio formats that GSPlayer can handle are MP2, MPA, and RMP.
GSPlayer has a clean, basic interface, containing the most important features you’d expect in an audio player.
An important feature of GSPlayer and of any reliable media player is ID3 tag support. GSPlayer supports ID3 v1 and v1.1 tags and it also handles PLS and M3U playlists.
A 10 bands equalizer is available, but only for MP3 playback. GSPlayer also allows you to apply effects to your music, such as surround, bassboost, reverb or echo.
Other features of GSPlayer are skin support (several skins are available on the developer’s website), hardware button mapping, sleep timer, noiseless playback, locking hardware buttons and support for PocketPC and SmartPhone (WM5/WM6).
A plugins pack is available as well, containing a MIDI Plug-in, an AAC (M4A/MP4) plugin and a Widows Media Audio (WMA) plugin.
GSPlayer only works on Windows mobile, and its requirements are Pocket PC, Pocket PC 2002, WM 2003, WM 2003SE, WM 5.0 and WM6. The application is also compatible with various other similar mobile operating systems.
GSPlayer has not been updated anymore since 2008, which means it can be outdated and not working on today’s mobile phones. This application can still be helpful for anyone using an older smartphone version and not playing the latest audio formats.
