ImgBurn is an easy-to-use disc burning utility which creates, burns and checks disc image files, regardless of the optical disc burner your computer is equipped with (CD, DVD, HD DVD, Blu-ray).
Apart from creating discs for your personal use, boot discs have other functions, too, such as storing backups and disk images, creating image files from an existing disk, creating an image of your own from files stored on your hard or helping you start your computer in case of an error.
ImgBurn eliminates errors from the burning process, rendering a reliable result after completing a simplified process.
Data verification is possible, so you ensure that the image you have created is consistent with the original disc.
ImgBurn is well-organized, and you can shift between several modes, depending on the task you want to perform:
read (reading a disc to an image file), build (creating or even writing directly on the disc an image file by using files either from your computer or from a network), write (writing the image file to a disc), verify (you check the disc’s readability), and discovery (explore the attributes of the burns you have produced).
There are also options for setting the write speed and the number of copies.
Some users will find handy the erase tool, the drive controls and the tools helping them create DVD, CUE and MDS files, as well.
Another advantage of this program is the wide range of image file formats it supports: CCD, BIN, CUE, CDI, DVD, DI, ISO, IMG, NRG, MDS and PDI.
Furthermore, this virtual item is incredibly lightweight and open-source.
ImgBurn is considered by many users the best CD/DVD burning software for Windows, and it works on any Windows version, from 95 to Windows 8. It is flexible and easy to use due to its simple and neat interface.
- Added: Holding the ALT key when clicking on DLE window's Disc pane column header will now remove the sort order (so they're then essentially sorted by addition order).
- Added: Ability to incrementally search the Explorer pane in the 'Disc Layout Editor' window.
- Added: The effective USB connection speed (1.1, 2.0, 3.0) for USB devices to the initial device scan log entries.
- Added: Log entry when burning showing the effective layer break position.
- See full list of changes here.
