MPEG Parser 1.3
MPEG Parser allows you to view the internal structure of MPEG files and see what your MPEG files exactly consist of.
It delivers information about the next MPEG file parameters: frame rate, resolution, aspect ratio, size, and bitrate.
The internal structure can also be viewed using the menu item “Save MPEG information”.
More than just viewing file structure, MPEG Parser is able to correct errors in MPEG files (use the “Save corrected” option).
MPEG Parser uses five different processing modes: “Quick”, “Show first GOP”, “Show tree”, “Show extended tree”, and “Rewrite cache”. During the “Quick” processing mode, the application only parses the most important fields in the MPEG file, without displaying the tree of the structure or creating a cache file. For the “Show first GOP” mode, only the first GOP in the file is parsed and tree file structure is build only for the first GOP. Cache file is not created, and all the parameters of the MPEG file are shown except for duration.
By using the “Show tree” option, you will perform full parsing of the MPEG file and a tree file structure will be displayed. Cache file creation is enabled for this mode, too. For the “Show extended tree” option, additional fields are displayed, compared to the previous mode. The cache file is created without the additional fields. The last mode, “Rewrite cache”, is similar to “Show tree”, but cache file is rewritten.
MPEG Parser has not been developed anymore since 2005. Its last version, 1.3, was improved with higher parsing speed, corrected calculation of pulldown duration, the ability to cut the file in GOPs and a tool for adding SEQUENCE_END.
