MPlayer Frontend 1.0 rc2

MPlayer Frontend (MPF) enables you to enjoy the features of MPlayer on your Windows computer using a graphical user interface.

MPlayer was mainly designed for Linux systems, and Windows port lacked the graphical user interface.

Since operating a media player from a command line was not a viable solution, a frontend was created to make things easier.

MPF comes with all the codecs you need to play the most popular video formats, so you don’t have to install any additional software. Just download MPF to your computer and enjoy its full features.

Some of the file extensions supported by MPlayer are WMV, AVI, ASF, MPEG, WAV, MOV and MP3.

The main features of MPF are drag and drop file importing method, subtitle support, normalizing volume, adding extra stereo, shutdown after play, controlling the most important video options (contrast, brightness, etc.), and PanScan emulation. In the expand mode, you can make subtitles and OSD appear on the black stripes under or above the movie.

Furthermore, MPF can open subtitles from a ZIP file and adjust subtitle font and size. The application accepts commandline filename, and it can be associated with movie files.

Aside from MPF’s features, you will also enjoy MPlayer’s original assets: supporting almost any file format, high image quality, easy seeking, not needing any codecs and low system resource needs. If you cannot open a certain movie format with MPlayer, you can try downloading the MPlayer codec pack from the application’s website. This may happen with certain QuickTime, WMV and RealVideo files.

This front-end enables you to enjoy MPlayer’s features the easy way, without needing to use a commandline interface.
