ttaR 1.1.7 / TTA 3.4.1
The True Audio (TTA) codec is a free, real-time lossless audio compression format, similar to FLAC and APE, but often achieving up to 30% smaller file sizes.
Like ZIP or RAR, TTA compresses files without altering the original data, preserving the full quality of the audio.
TTA uses adaptive predictive filters to efficiently compress audio while maintaining fast operation speeds. This balance of size reduction and high performance has made it a strong contender among other lossless formats.
However, development of TTA appears to have ceased many years ago, leaving it in a stable but unmaintained state.
From ttaenc to ttaR: Rewriting the CLI for Better Performance
An important part of its history includes ttaR, which began as a fork of ttaenc 3.4.1-linux (2007). The original code was integrated into the TTA library, while the command-line interface (CLI) was rewritten to improve speed and usability for real-time audio compression tasks.
Similar to FLAC and APE, TTA is another professional lossless compression standard that you can use for free.
