Folks! All of you who have problems with these codecs and codec packs do the following: install Shark007 codec pack which is compatible both with Windows XP and Vista or its Windows 7 version that is fully compatible with Windows 7 which you can download from many web-sites.
I tested this codec pack in all of these three Windows versions and there were no problems and conflicts. Uninstall all related single codecs and packs and install this one and you will be able to play all audio/video formats in almost all popular players.
Only that you need is to configure it correctly and you cannot make mistake. Just don't forget to set almost all video formats Gabest and ffdshow wherever it is possible.

@jerome
You need to use the Mega pack, which contains x264VFW for encoding H.264, encoding with ffdshow is no longer possible.

I like k-lite, but I've an issue with the 6.7 FULL pack for encoding : in the virtualdub conversion menu > ffdshow, the H264 encoder is not listed in the ffdshow.. ?

I installed 6.7.0 Full version. It is still a little bit slow. Especially when opening wmv files. I think it is about Media Player Classic. Windows Media Player loads the files far better. I don't know if I should tweak something...
K-Lite Codec Pack 6.5.0 Full, Standard and Basic
Version 6.5
I can play all video as normal but there is no sound
Totally mute, no matter what I've tried.

I'm having problems with subpicture buffering in this version. Before it went smoothly on 3 subpictures, but now it's terrible (even SD videos are jerky) and I have to keep it on 1 although that setting screws up all the fancy subtitles.

well it's handy n good one
whatever, i've got problem with FLAC sound. The solution just to turn it on in ffdshow audio menu.
For WMV problem, that not play smoothly.
Just try to change the playback>output in options menu. Try the VMR-7 or VMR-9.

The pack is awesome but last two versions are too slow. I re-installed 6.20 for a better performance. Everything is OK now. Please make something for the next release.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Hi, I've just installed the k-lite codec 6.40. However, it seems to be a little bit slower (not smooth with small lag) than 6.20 while playing video.
I reinstalled the version 6.20, everything works fine again. I experienced the same issue with version 6.30.
Could anybody tell me why? Btw, I'm using Win7 32bit system.

Why stop supporting rbmb format? You've already left QuickTime behind some time ago. The big advantage of this pack is compatibility of different formats, but now you are abandoning them one by one?

this is simply the best codec pack available.it took me hardly seconds to overcome the problem of player different files in wmp 11.

well, i've installed v6.20
i realized something different about this version installer
it has no option to generate thumbnail preview for real video format (rmvb and rm). I think there's no problem with that since i dont use thumbnail preview too often since it may be lead to explorer crash but when I opened a real video format, my mpc and wmp cant open this file. They said i don't have any codec to play this format
this version can't play real video (rm or rmvb) anymore, how disappointing....

I recently bought a 1gb Intel N270 crappy netbook to get to grips with PC's (the first I've ever owned, but definitely not the first I've used). I wanted a machine to seriously abuse and to see how much I could squeeze out of how little.
I'll get to the point; I'm a movie, music and games fanatic, and I have to say this has helped improve my experience of video and sound quality immeasurably.

I honestly don't think that unless I shed out some serious cash on some dedicated hardware, that I could possibly improve upon the viewing and listening experience I've had with this AWESOME codec pack. That said, it does take some setting up, such as disabling one or two Windows Media Player update-type annoyances (Google for how), and, much like other specialized software, has a mountain of options, some of which can have undesirable results. On the upside, the majority of important options have additional information when hovering the mouse pointer over them, and are highly useful if you don't want to go thingying comething up!
So if you absolutely must have superior video AND audio playback (I've switched from VLC to this after about 2 days!), then this was made for you.
On the other hand if you just want good video and audio quality, stick with Internet Explorer for streaming (no, really - I've tested against Firefox, Google Chrome and Opera for video streaming - it's very very good indeed and almost as quick as Opera to start up - get divx, flash and any other plugins/addons that you come across as missing and you're sorted), and for audio and offline video and ease of use, VLC.
-----Further Info-----
If you do get any problems with file formats not working in K Lite, just try disabling them in the options and possibly re-set the previous player as default (Google again, if you're not sure).
That's it - it's 6:30am, I wrote this review listening to Beethoven's Symphony No.7 Movement 2 Allegretto, nearly wetting myself that it sounds so good. I HAD to write a review, just to get it off my chest how good K Lite really is.
No need to give this any marks - it's brilliant,
though it does take some setting up initially.
-Video and Audiophiles - this is what you're after!
-If you just want good quality playback without too much fuss. try VLC or look into optimizing your current player (the magic of Google, again).
Night all!
