This web is fantastic, but I think you should explain on title which is really the new version. For instance, there are people not interested on nightly builds.

This program was a lifesaver! Fixed a faulty record (audio sync off 5 frames) I could edit and it did a wonderful job encoding.

I use this program to convert from FLV, etc to MP4. It does a great job and is very fast.
My only complaint is, if I convert to AVI they will not play on any of my DVD players. I have to use another program to convert them to AVI, and those programs are much slower.

Can open a large number of different format/codec combinations, and can also write to many more than just the mentioned AVI/MPEG-1/2, eg. flv, mp4, mkv etc. (Could the moderators update the program definition?) Good support for x264 with lots of options.
Regularly updated, haven't had many problems and those I have had have been fixed soon.

I don't have QT for 5 years on my PC.

Great free program and it does convert .mov files from digital cameras. All you have to do is open them with Avidemux, just copy back to avi and it will play anywhere. I haven't even got Quicktime on my computer.

And if you're looking for an actually FREE avi joiner, you found one with AviDemux! Very easy to do and actually easier than trying that with VirtualDub (because no extra codec crap needed).

I'm encoding using AVIDemux at this moment. It's great. All required codecs are within its own program folder, no need to have installed any codecs or codec packs. Can convert/encode to multiple formats except Real, Quicktime or Win Media A/V formats. Join, filter, append, cut, its all there. Try it. :)

Hands down best avi joiner I have used. I used Allok AVI joiner and it would take me around 1.5hrs to join the files. With this jewel it took me less than 5 minutes.
